In the wake of the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, many families in Jamaica are facing severe food shortages and supply disruptions. In late October, the Category 5 storm made landfall in western Jamaica, causing widespread agricultural collapse—destroying farms, livestock, crops, and essential infrastructure. With supply chains strained and recovery efforts ongoing, access to basic necessities has become increasingly difficult for many communities.
To support those affected, we are organizing a two-week donation drive here at P&L Landscaping.
A longtime member of our team has family in Jamaica who have been directly impacted, and we want to rally together to help. Your generosity can make a meaningful difference.
🗓 Donation Deadline: Tuesday, November 25
Please drop off all items by 11/25.
After that date, everything collected will be packed and shipped directly to Jamaica to support families in urgent need.
📦 What to Donate (Non-Perishable Only)
We are collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries, blankets/clothing, and first aid essentials. Below are some helpful examples:
Food Items
- Canned goods (vegetables, beans, tuna, chicken)
- Dry pasta, rice
- Cereal, oatmeal
- Peanut butter & jelly
- Shelf-stable milk (powdered or boxed)
- Canned fruits
- Baby food & formula (if available)
- Other trusted long-life items
Toiletries
- Toothbrushes
- Shampoo
- Soap
- Deodorant
- Other basic hygiene items
Blankets & Clothing
- Warm clothing
- Blankets
🌍 Why Your Help Matters
Hurricane Melissa left a significant portion of Jamaica’s agricultural sector devastated. Many residents are now facing food insecurity as a result of damaged crops, lost livestock, and disrupted distribution networks. Every donation—big or small—helps fill a critical gap during this challenging time.
